Just one question:
If an NGO asks permission from the Director of our institute to set up a free condom vending stall inside the campus, knowing him as someone highly protective of tradition and at the same time always politically correct, would he say yes or would he say no?
whatever be the decision, it would hardly affect the social life of the students,

then would the institute go against a major national drive to increase awareness about condom usuage, given India's precarious position as far as AIDS is concerned...

humm...To many orthodox people like our diro, promoting safe sex means promoting sex. But being on the Govt pay roll he cannot outrightly rubbish the central govt's policies on promotion of condom usage. ( I still remember the debate I had with Balan in my 2nd yr on whether we can go to Kamasutra for spons in SF )

Also a survey amongst the couple's of kgp ( separtely on what girls think and what guys think ) should also throw up interesting stats. What sayeth Sandy Rath... ;)) .
Yes, with a twist. He would ask them to place it right outside the campus so that not only can the students(and the rest of the campus) access it at will, but the truly needy of condoms, the localites can also have full access....

ReplyDeleteDunno much abt the kgp Diro, but presented as a case study, I would probably say tht he would not oppose the setting up of such a machine near the campus, not inside the campus. Tht way he's politically correct, and not being disrespectful of traditions. Something out of campus boundaries is surely out of his domain, and he cant, then be blamed for setting up of any such machine.
